"He came from a period when surf heroes were individuals, each with a distinct personality and character.... I suspect his revelations may ruffle a few feathers."

Mike Doyle was arguably the best surfer in the world in the 1960s. In 1969 he won the Duke Kahanamoku Classic, which was the most prestigious surfing event of its time. Later he invented the single ski, which became the prototype for the modern snowboard. He now lives in Baja California Sur, where he makes his living as an artist.
