Overview

This engaging, interactive study tool offers a thorough outline review of medical-surgical, pediatric, maternity/women's health, and mental health nursing to provide students with a refresher on key nursing content. Study is enhanced with links to full-color illustrations, audio heart and lung sounds, assessments and procedures in full-motion video, and descriptive animations. The content and test questions are also linked with an easy-to-use search function that allows users to move around chapters and between questions and content with ease. Version 2.0 contains more than 3,000 questions in NCLEX-RN format to provide students with an opportunity to test themselves on a broad range of content. The questions are coded by new client need subcategories to be consistent with April 1998 changes to the NCLEX-RN test plan. All questions include rationales for correct and incorrect answer options that are visible in review mode. In the test mode, users have a choice of taking a comprehensive exam or customized quizzes in specific content areas to meet their individual study needs.

Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Kathleen Diane Pickrell, BSN, MSN (Indiana State University)
Description: This 2003 edition of NCLEX-RN review book provides 3,500 practice questions incorporating the most current nursing knowledge, trends, and practices. As with previous versions, this edition presents questions that are based on the current NCLEX-RN test plan. The book includes a content review and information about the NCLEX-RN test and how to prepare for it. General test-taking strategies, practice questions with answers and rationales for both correct and incorrect responses, and a CD-ROM with additional questions are provided.
Purpose: The purpose is to help graduates of nursing programs prepare for the NCLEX-RN examination. The book contains a content review for each nursing specialty area and includes leadership and management, communication skills, and critical decision-making. The book also incorporates information from basic sciences, nutrition, pharmacology, and rehabilitation into nursing.
Audience: According to the authors, the book highlights topics relevant for future practice. The book is written for students who have completed a basic nursing program and are now preparing for the registered nurse licensure examination. The authors have collaborated on the most recent editions of the book.
Features: The authors cover test-taking strategies for successful completion of the NCLEX-RN. Content is organized by assessment, analysis/nursing diagnosis, planning/implementation, and evaluation/outcomes. The authors believe that content organized in this manner avoids repetition and recognizes individual learning needs. Questions are analyzed as to level of difficulty, critical thinking and professional decision-making, nursing process, area of client needs, and category of concern.
Assessment: This book is updated, worthwhile, and a necessary resource for candidates preparing for licensure examination. The book contains two comprehensive exams that provide candidates with general application questions. The tests simulate the NCLEX-RN examination by reflecting both the minimum (75) and maximum (265) number of items to provide a parallel experience for candidates.

The BEST study guide tool ever for First Semester Nursing Students!!!

Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Nursing for the NCLEX-RN is the best sudy guide tool ever and a must for First Semester Nursing students. This "user friendly" tutoral CD is easy to explore and contains video and animation demonstrations in the media section (no, you do not have to be connected to the Internet). There are also rationales for every question/answer senario. It's a great educational tool and the best money I've ever spent on a CD!!!! No disappointments with this CD.
