A complete review, this guide covers the five major subject areas of the ARRT exam in radiography. And it's an effective study guide for many radiography courses! Written in outline format, each review of a subject is followed by questions related specifically to that area. A companion CD-ROM includes a pool of over 1,400 questions that may be randomly combined to generate a virtually limitless number of mock exams. This edition also provides valuable information on preparing resumes and cover letters, interviewing, and career planning to help you make the transition to a successful career.

  • Content review in outline format includes the five major subject areas covered on the ARRT exam, helping you concentrate on the most important information.
  • Thorough coverage of digital and computed radiography reflects the increased emphasis of these topics on the Registry exam.

  • Review questions with answers let you practice AART exam-style questions, helping you assess your preparedness and identify areas that need additional study.
  • Rationales for correct and incorrect answers are included in the appendix.
  • Mock exams in the book and on CD let you test your knowledge and practice with the Registry exam format.
  • CD allows practice in tutorial mode — with feedback after you answer each question — or in exam mode, with feedback only after you complete the entire test.
  • Study tools on CD include:.
    • Electronic flashcards with formulas, key terms, and important topics
    • Bookmarking of questions for later study
    • Rationales for correct and incorrect answers
    • Test tips for difficultquestions
    • Test scores are saved and dated
  • Career preparation advice covers continuing education requirements, career advancement, and basic financial planning — such as negotiating salary and benefits.

  • Expanded coverage of digital imaging and ethical standards reflects the increased emphasis of these topics on the Registry exam.
  • Situational Judgment Test questions provide practice with the new type of Registry question requiring you to select the best response in an ethics-related situation.
  • 232 new questions have been added to the CD — for a total of 2,450 questions in the book and CD — to ensure that you have plenty of practice opportunities.

The book contains black-and-white illustrations.

Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
Reviewer: (Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital)
Description: This book fulfills the promise of its title. All subjects technologists may need before taking their boards are thoroughly discussed. Each section ends with 100 questions to make sure the material is understood. Many special tips are given, such as how to effectively use study time, strategies for answering multiple choice questions, and career planning. An interactive CD-ROM is also included for extra help.
Purpose: The purpose is not only to help new technologist pass their boards, but also to help them plan for their career. When I was a student, I would have loved to have had a book full of so many helpful insights such as goal setting, hints on interviewing, how to type a resume, test-taking skills and long term career planning. These are skills needed in every career.
Audience: It is obvious the author is a long term educator. He must have seen a need among his new technologists for a book that is so complete. This book is written for just those students who want to walk into their board exam with confidence and who are ready to launch their own careers.
Features: All subjects that are on the ARRT board exam for radiologic technologists are thoroughly discussed in this book. What I liked best are the many helpful hints about how to study for the board exam and the systematic way to study. There are many diagrams and fun games to enliven the material. The CD-ROM makes studying like a game. The challenge tests in the back of the book are a good way to see what subjects you may need to study more intensely.
Assessment: I would recommend this book to radiologic technology students who are about to embark on their career. It is full of "must have" information and skills. The book would also be helpful to those technologists who never understood the importance of career planning or may be looking for a new opportunity to improve their skills. This updated version is full of new and exciting material.
