If you only own one book, make it this one ! Invaluable for preplanning. I take it everywhere. Incredibly comprehensive. Great for discharge planning too, as well as understanding medical diagnosis and determining nursing diagnosis. Home care alerts throughout as well as a special section just on home care teaching. Everyone doing clinicals in med surg should have this book. Great information on elder care for that ever growing population needing care. What to understand what will be expected of you as a nurse-check out the preprocedural and post procedural care sections. I am sure I will be using this book well into my nursing career.
