Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
This is the most recent and thus most welcome edition of the Mosby Nursing Drug Reference that author Ms. Skidmore-Roth made so respected.

Reviewer: Krysia Warren Hudson, MS, RNC (Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing)
Description: This is a quick drug reference.
Purpose: The sole purpose of this book is to give accurate information to nurses. It completely meets this objective.
Audience: The nursing audience should find this reference timely and it should also help nursing students prioritize nursing actions and develop critical thinking skills.
Features: In this handbook the editors not only cover the most recent drugs accepted by the FDA, but also herbs and herbal interactions. The use of herbs by patients usually goes undetected, and the editors give nurses an idea of what herbs may interact with current therapy. This is progressive. The book is organized alphabetically and the most common drug interactions, life-threatening drug effects, and nursing alerts are highlighted. A disk is included, which is easy to install and appears easy to use.
Assessment: In comparing this book to others, I feel that it is the best available. It is comprehensive and brief, and other studies and clinical trials are noted. The editros had the foresight to follow and publish the emerging modes of therapy (herbs). I personally would recommend this drug handbook over any other text, especially for new nurses or nursing students who need the guidance and organization found here.
