A truly fascinating mystery - one book that I have read over and over since I first bought a copy many years ago. As another reviewer said "why couldn't I put it down"? Exactly my thought! It's the first mystery written by Catherine Aird that did not contain Inspector Sloan and I believe it is her best (although I do love her other mysteries). Was this review helpful? No real suspense, or danger, no blood, slow pace. So why couldn't I put it down? Why have a reread it many times? Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
A London businessman is forced to retire to a quiet country village after a heart attack. His boredom is alleviated not by the recent murder of a beautiful young woman but by the 150 year old murder of a teenage boy when he discovers the childs skeleton in a priest hole in his home.
I had forgotten why I so enjoyed the novels of Catherine Aird and now I intend to go back and reread allof her delightful books.
