When Tom Corwin’s golden retriever, Bob, passed away unexpectedly, Tom decided to write a letter as a tribute to his life. The letter told Bob’s many human friends what they might not have known the surprising story of how he was once a ferocious, untrusting dog named Red, and how through sheer determination he changed completely to become Tom’s best friend. Tom began receiving an outpouring of heartfelt responses to what he came to realize was actually a universal tale about the possibility of change and the transformational power of love. Friends and strangers urged him to bring the story to more people, and with a vision of how it might look, Tom designed this special book version of the letter. With a total of just more than one thousand words, this poignant story reads like a poem, underscored by flipbook illustrations of Tom's beloved Bob. Laid out with only one sentence per page, the book’s spare quality and unique design have a powerful impact and readers will return to its pages again and again.

This author is laughing all the way to the bank. There are a few sentences on each page! He would never have sold this book had it been written as most books are. I ordered it online but had I seen it in the store, I would never have wasted my money.
My first thought when I received this book was 'Did I just waste my money on a book with one sentence per page?' Then I read the story, which only takes a few minutes, but stays with you for so much longer. I have just bought a number of copies to give as Christmas gifts.
I ordered this book online - what a total waste of money. It's a small book with a few words on each page. Unbelievable. You are constantly, and I do mean constantly, going to the next page because of this! If this book hadn't been written this way, it would be only a few pages long! I would love to get my money back!
This book is a little gem that should be read over and over again. A great lesson in keeping one's mind open and giving dogs (and people!) a chance before shutting the door on what could be a life-enhancing experience.
a remarkable, sensitive story with much to say about the redemptive power of unconditional love.
