Mostly Sand and Gravel seems to deal as much with relationships, communion with the natural world, love and family fellowship, as it does with hunting the artifacts of the ancients. I sensed a great deal of love and affection for the father of the author, as well as his wife and children. Tom Westfall is a sage of the prarie and his love of the connection between then and now is quite evident. His folksie method of storytelling makes each adventure into a spellbinding search for the ancient connection that dwells in us all. His humor, pathos, and insight bring a sense of connection to the reader. I will read anything this author writes. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This is an excellent book. I enjoyed reading about the various types of artifact collecting in which the author and his family engage. I also found it interesting to have the author discuss things like parenting and his relationship with his children and other family members. This is a good read for anyone who has a hobby that they share with others. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
