Sanders' characters have a youthful ease of movement; they toss things and roll and jump and greet strangers easily. Once in orbit around other characters, however, they almost always fail to obey physical laws. "Open your mouth for my gun," says the girl at the front desk who has yet to grow into her true beauty. The man will be lucky if he gets out of there with all his teeth.

Realistic absurdity ties together the short stories of Sanders's intelligent and funny collection...Between boring jobs and sexual depravity, it seems at first blush that the characters are doomed to unfulfilling, pitiful lives, but, upon closer inspection, it appears there may be something redeeming about them after all. Meet the Author

Greg Sanders was born in 1965 in White Plains, New York and grew up there and later, in the village of Hastings-on-Hudson. He was a long-distance runner at Hastings High and in 1988 graduated with a B.A. from the University of Vermont, where he was a double-major of Mathematics and English (that school’s first). In 1990 he briefly went to graduate school for applied mathematics and statistics before accepting a job as an actuarial analyst with A.I.G., where he worked until 1994. Several jobs and a decade later, he graduated with an M.F.A. in creative writing from The New School University.
Throughout his adult life, Greg has written short stories and many have appeared in magazines both online and in print, including Mississippi Review, Pindeldyboz, Opium Magazine and the anthologies Blue Cathedral and The Crucifix is Down, both published by Red Hen Press. He currently lives in the East Village, earns his living as a technical writer, and is at work on a second collection of short stories, a novel, and numerous hybrid creative projects.

    Great bedtime reading (but not if you want to get any sleep)!

    This book literally kept me up much of the night. 'I'll just read one more story...' Greg Sanders' writing is beautiful and his stories are funny, weird, sad, and all completely different. I can't wait until the next one comes out!

    Great imaginative writing

    This is a great collection of stories, full of imagination but believable at the same time. I don't normally enjoy collections of short stories because they become repetitive but these kept me interested from start to finish.
