Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly - Cahners\\Publishers_Weekly
Much better known for practicing her faith than for preaching it, Mother Teresa speaks in this anthology of her teachings and sayings. "We all know that there is a God who loves us, who made us," she writes. "Holiness is not a luxury for the few; it is a simple duty, because if we learn to love, we learn to be holy." Mother Teresa, founder of the international order of nuns called the Missionaries of Charity and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, speaks simply, joyfully. Sometimes, she's gently funny: "Someone once asked me, 'Are you married?', And I said, 'Yes, and I find it sometimes very difficult to smile at Jesus because he can be very demanding." She always speaks to the heart about matters such as prayer, love and work, Jesus, poverty and the poor, and suffering and death. Included in this collection are a brief biography and an interview with Mother Teresa. This stirring collection adds one more facet to the portrait of a woman who has become a worldwide model for self-sacrifice and charity.

Very inspiring and at the same time disturbing.

Mother Teresa tells the story of people who are beyond poor. I don't think there is a strong enough word to describe them. She gave her life to them and the word of God. That we allow people to live such retched lives is beyond comprehension. The redemption is the education and hope that she gives to the orphan children. That in her world there is NO prejudice toward race, religion or creed. She helps everyone.

    Awesome

This book has taught me so much. It truly shows how to be humble and realize that we are nothing compared to God. She has truly left this world a wonderful insight of her life and how she lived it.

    Inspiring

It is a book that is filled with inspiring preachings that you felt deep down in your heart that you wanted to follow the footstep of our greatest Sister on Earth. I was not able to put this book down since it taught me so much. You will definitely enjoy reading it and seeing in your mind how great God's love can be and how little we have done in our daily lives.

    Inspiring

This book is a very moving and inspiring read. It serves to point out the things that are important, the things that God wants us to do with our lives. It also reminds us that we are to "love our neighbors" no matter who those neighbors might be. Her writings brought me back to my own calling, which I recieved four years ago: "Help people. Everyone". As simple as this command is, it has been easy for me to forget lately and I have been back to getting caught up in my own problems. This book snapped me out of that.

    Misleading and inaccurate

This book appears to have been written to blatantly promote the catholic ideology of aggressive missionary work. What the book conceals is the fact that the organisation headed by Mother Teresa existed with the sole purpose of carrying out conversions not to serve the needy. Hence the book comes across as hypcritical and extremely lop-sided. And all this against the backdrop of massive protests in her country of work, India, on the day of her 'recognition' as a saint by the catholic church
