Overview

This tiny woman proved that one person can change the world. Because she fell in love with Jesus with an intensity rarely known by the greatest of saints, and because she saw Him in every human being, she gave us all a chance to know unconditional love.

Anyone who spent any time with her at all remembers the warm glow, the excitement, the safety of her love. When Mother Teresa was introduced to the United Nations, the Secretary General called her "the most powerful woman in the world."

By her example, she made us all aware of the needs of all the world's suffering people. She praised the poor and begged us to love them, cared for the lepers and asked us to do likewise. She realized that there was no greater suffering than being alone and unloved, no matter how many material comforts we might have. She touched many souls and woke them up. "It isn't easy being married to Jesus," she said. "He can be very demanding and he likes you to do what he asks with a smile."

When it was learned Maryanne Raphael was writing a book on Mother Teresa, a friend, who was taking her vows as a Missionaries of Charity sister, invited her to spend a day with Mother, her nuns and their families. "Don't write about me," Mother told Raphael, "write about the work." Each time her friend introduced her to another nun during the course of the day and mentioned her book, the nun would rush her to Mother, who always graciously smiled as though it was the first time they were meeting, and then continued their conversation where they'd left off. Each time, she selflessly reminded Raphael, "I am only a pencil in God's hands. Write about His work."

Called To Love is a down-to-earth, easy-to-read account helping the reader to feel Mother Teresa's spirit. In the Introduction, Raphael tells of her personal experiences with Mother Teresa, how she changed her life and taught her to love.

The book itself is a dramatic narrative allowing the reader to witness the miracle of her life and work. One reader said he had planned to take in a few pages each night, but it grabbed him and he devoured every page before he put it down. "It raised my spirits at the same time it made me want to cry," he said, "and I felt this sense of peace."

The first edition of Called To Love is a special run of 300 copies which will be signed by the author. Help bring Peace On Earth by sharing the love of the woman who won the Nobel Peace Prize and whose life was Something Beautiful For God.

    Mother Teresa, Called to Love

Maryanne Raphael¿s book about Mother Teresa and her Missionaries of Charity is one of those books that is easy to read and sinks deep into all of us. She shares with us a very special warm glow, the excitement, the safety she felt in her teacher's presence. Maryanne is a careful writer and has sought to share her feelings in this book; which is important for all of us in these times when it is hard to find solace. Through love, courage and sacrifice Mother Teresa proved that one person can change the world. She taught her Co-Workers to SEE the needs of the world's suffering people. One of Mother Teresa's main teachings was that people needed Silence so they could find their personal deep spirituality. Mother Teresa guided her Co-Workers, through meditation, which gave them wisdom and the strength to serve the poorest of the poor, the leper, the destitute and dying. 'Never worry about numbers,' she would say. 'Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest you'. Mother Teresa helped her Co-Workers see that the world's priorities are upside down from what is usually told to people. She guided them to learn from the poor, the dying, the depressed. She would not allow anyone who wasn't smiling to work in her home for the dying. 'A smile is the beginning of peace,' she insisted. 'The peace of the world depended upon our smiling at one another'.

    Mother Teresa, Called to Love

Maryanne Raphael¿s book about Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity, is an accurate, clearly written, unfurbished biography which all will find inspiring and instructive. It manages to convey the spirit of Mother and the Missionaries of Charity in a manner which all who know them will recognize as authentic, and all who have not had that privilege will want to become acquainted and learn from them. The book is easy to read and very informative. I recommend it to all readers, especially young ones, whether they have been devoted followers of Mother Teresa or have not known her except as a person often written about by the press. All will find inspiration in it. ¿CALLED TO LOVE¿ is a work of love by the author, and it shows.

her life was something beautiful for God

MOTHER TERESA, CALLED TO LOVE is a down-to-earth fast moving story of one of the most beloved women of the 20th century. The author begins the book by sharing her personal impressions of Mother Teresa and the way working with Mother changed her life. The dramatic life story of this modern day saint touched my heart and I found myself laughing on one page and crying on another. After I finished reading the book, I felt a beautiful peace. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to raise his or her spirits. Reviewed by Susan Chesser

Mother Teresa said we are all called to love.

MOTHER TERESA, CALLED TO LOVE is an easy to read biographical study of the life and work of Mother Teresa. It opens with a description of what Mother Teresa taught the author about love. Here is a vivid glimpse of a unique woman who loved God with all her heart, all her soul, all her strength and loved her neighbor as herself. She was the true Good Samaritian seeing every human being as her beloved neighbor. Mother Teresa gave Maryanne permission to write this book and a prayer that it will glorify God and bring souls to Him. That is her goal.
