About the Author

David P. Thompson is an assistant professor of educational administration at East Texas State University. He received his Ph.D. in educational administration from Texas A&M University in 1993. His professional interests include job satisfaction and motivation, quantitative research methods, the principalship, and school law.Immediately prior to his appointment at East Texas State University in 1994, Dr. Thompson was an assistant principal at Westfield High School in the Spring (Texas) Independent School District. In addition, he has been a public school mathematics teacher and coach and a graduate research associate with the Texas A&M School/University Research Collaborative.For his doctoral dissertation titled “Job Satisfaction: A Synthesis of Research in the Educational Administration Quarterly,” Dr. Thompson received the outstanding dissertation awards in 1994 from both Division A of the American Educational Research Association and the National Council of Professors of Educational Administration.
