Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Born from the finishing jumps at the end of a supercross motorcycle race, freestyle motocross has exploded. Once a fringe sport, motocross freestyle is a mainstay of such sporting events as the "Gravity Games," and the "X-Games." Riders such as Travis Pastrana have brought amazing tricks and daring moves to elevate the sport. However, in this title of the "Blazers to the Extreme" series not much is covered regarding the sport, its history, and its growing popularity. Great photographs of various moves are not supported by informative text but rather by a sound bite format of writing. Recognizing that high interest books do need brevity and easy text, the author writes too briefly on such issues as equipment and safety. Unlike other high interest books in this series, this title lacks facts and details that would draw many readers to such a book. There are sections in the back recommending websites, as well as a glossary of terms. 2005, Capstone Press, Ages 10 to 15.
