i decided a while back to read some travel lit. i found this book on here, and since i had enjoyed a couple of edith's novels, i thought this would be good. it is terrible. it seems like something thrown together by an editor. the book started, in fact, as articles for a magazine, but edith should have worked harder on intergrating them into a book.

Wharton at her best. Absolutely charming descriptions of travel through France, the houses, the people, the countryside. Delicious repartee with her traveling companion, Henry James. The new e-book edition is beautifully produced, and the introduction by travel writer Lavinia Spalding is a Must Read. Highly recommended! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
