Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Tina Chan
Motorbikes have an engine that provides fuel to travel forward. A rider steers a motorbike by turning its handlebars to go around corners. The right hand grip on a motorbike’s handle is called a throttle. When the throttle is turned, the engine works harder and sends more power to the rear wheel, which makes the motorbike go faster. In case they crash, motorbike riders wear protective clothing, such as padded leather gloves, crash helmet, motorcycle boots with steel toecaps, and knee sliders. Motorbikes are used for motocross competitions, where competitors ride laps around a short, bumpy dirt and mud course. Other motorbikes are raced on tracks covered with smooth surfaces. Some motorbikes have racks bolted to the frame for boxes and bags to be attached for carrying loads. Large, vivid, age-appropriate color photographs correspond with the text and enhance understanding. A glossary features words that may be unfamiliar to readers. Includes a quiz, a list of further resources, and an index. Reviewer: Tina Chan AGERANGE: Ages 6 to 10.
