Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Part of the "Brand New Readers" series, this is a droll and delightful way to help your child learn to love reading on his own. The four extremely simple stories are all about a frisky mouse who plays tag, has a picnic, pretends to be a superhero and tries unsuccessfully to fix dinner. That last one is a panic, as everything Mouse makes burnsuntil Mouse makes a phone call, which results in "Pizza!" Croft's hilarious acrylic and pastel illustrations support the text beautifully. The front of the book offers tips on helping a first-time reader puzzle out the words in each story and feel like a successful reader. It is a terrific addition to any home or kindergarten bookshelf. 2002, Candlewick Press,

These are awesome! I was looking for something simple to start with,; I was actually thinking of dick and Jane. I wanted something with repetition and very simple words. The Dr, Seuss books are long for young children and we have some of those so I was looking for something else. I spotted this on the shelf and thought it looked like the best there. I was right, they are wonderful. The kids were very interested at first and then got very excited that they were actually reading words! I am using them with my pre-school triplets to get them set for Kindergarten in the fall. I am going to by another set in the series right now.

My daughter loves these sets. She is also very proud to read them all by herself! Perfect for new readers.
