One bright day, Mouse and Momma head outside to play. The wind blows in something feathery and plump -- a bird, and something wiggly and pink -- a worm, and something green, who hops and leaps -- a frog. But before it's time to go back inside, Mouse finds something that's soft and new with petals... the prettiest flower he's ever seen!

Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-On a breezy spring day, Mouse discovers various creatures. He wonders what each one is, and his mother patiently identifies a butterfly, bird, snail, frog, and worm. Each animal departs on a gust of wind, and, in the end, Mouse himself is carried away, but lands safely in his mother's loving arms. This gentle story is just right for toddlers who, like Mouse, are encountering new things every day. The brief text is full of wonderfully descriptive phrases, such as "fluttery buttery," "hidey insidey," and "squiggly squeeze." The simple, double-page illustrations are done in bright, colorful acrylics, just right for holding the attention of the youngest storytime attendee. A surefire hit in any season.-Elaine Lesh Morgan, Multnomah County Library, Portland, OR Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.

My granddaughter loves all the books in Mouse's First series. We get them at the library every visit, but for some reason, she is especially fond of the board books. Books are well written and we love exploring all of Mouse's first experiences.

I stumbled across these books one day when my daughter was a toddler and thought they were really cute. The first one I bought was Mouse's First Christmas. My daughter is now 7 and she has them all...and still loves them all. I used to read to her and she always wanted to read these...now at the age of seven she is reading them to me. Everytime a new one comes out, she wants it. Little Mouse experience many things for the first time, and along that journey the reader is included. My daughter loves to see what Mouse experiences, and seems to relate to those experiences. Great line of books for the toddler up to early elementary school.
