Overview

While there can never be another hit like "Who Let the Dogs Out," the woof-woofin' party starter that took to radio and sporting events like a terrier takes to pant legs, there are many songs like "Who Let the Dogs Out," and they're all over the Baha Men's follow-up, Move It like This. While you won't hear any barking on this one, the Bahamas' biggest musical export since "Funky Nassau" pull out all the stops in getting people on the dance floor. Move It like This features the same party-hardy stew of reggae, dance-hall chat, rap, soca, and of course, junkanoo, the infectious beat of the Bahamas. They bring them all to bear on the designated "Dogs" successors "Giddyup" and the title track, packing all that energy into dance numbers suitable for the clubs. But their silly-song remake of Harry Nilsson's "Coconut" is sure to appeal to adults and their kids alike. The easygoing, folksy wisdom of songs such as "Normal" and "Rich in Love" is the kind of fare that's increasingly rare these days -- engaging for the whole family. It's no wonder that the Baha Men were chosen by Nickelodeon as kids' favorite band on the cable channel's Kids Choice Awards. Considering their past success, it's a tribute to the legacy of this 20-year-old institution that the Baha Men haven't jettisoned their uniquely tropical fusion and sense of G-rated fun in order to court the ear of urban music fans. Here's to another two decades of carnival!
