    more from this reviewer

    Kept me guessing!

I really didn't know what to expect from this book. I'll admit, I bought it because of the cover. I was not disappointed at all. It was very believable and scary because the action was so realistic. I will definitely read Nick Stone again.

    A reviewer

Max Mingus is an ex-cop and now an ex-PI after doing 7 years for the execution of three teens. As a PI Max's specialty was finding missing children, which he is asked to do after his release. At first he refuses but then is offered an astronomical sum of money (in the millions) to locate Charlie Carver, grandson of Haiti's richest man.Max takes the job and goes to Haiti.Nick Stone's description of Haiti is bleak and at times heartbreaking. As Max moves further into his investigation he's confronted with the islanders' voodoo practices which gives the story a VERY dark and creepy tone. The meeting between Max and Clyde Beeson is one of the eeriest and revolting scenes I have ever read.In other words riveting.Max throughout is confronted with choices and at the end a shot at redemption. Will he be the Max of old? or will he take another course.Overall a great book.Looking forward to the sequel.
