Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Mary Loftus
This early chapter book tells Mr. Croc's story in words and pictures. Within the illustrated text are speech bubbles that contain dialog between Mr. Croc and various characters. Hopefully, readers will not get distracted by the black-and-white line drawings, lest they miss material relevant to the flow of the story. Mr. Croc's tale is a simple one, easily summarized by the title. Mr. Croc's problem is that he is a bit forgetful. First, he forgets the activity he wants to do, then he loses his map and forgets his way out of the woods. Mr. Croc camps overnight, and in the morning a great gust of wind takes his tent aloft. This results in a happy accident, solving the problem the park ranger shared with Mr. Croc. The ducks return to the pond, following the flying tent, and Mr. Croc is rewarded with breakfast prepared by the ranger's wife.
