Beef Barley Soup

4 to 5 servings

Did you know how quickly you can make one of everybody's all-time favorite homemade soups? Try it and see! (I know itll be gone in no time!)

1 pound beef cubed steak, cut into 3/4-inch chunks
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
8 cups water

6 beef bouillon cubes
1/2 cup pearled barley
3 medium-sized carrots shredded
1 large onion, diced
1 celery stalk diced

Sprinkle the beef with the flour and pepper. In a 6-quart soup pot, heat the oil over high heat, then add the beef and brown on all sides for 6 to 7 minutes. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and cook for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the barley is tender.
