Overview

Welcome to the series of original mysteries starring Adrian Monk--based on the hit USA Network series Monk, starring Tony Shaloub--the brilliant investigator who always knows when something’s out of place....

Failing to win back his girlfriend in New Jersey, Monk returns to San Francisco where Natalie has set up an office for Monk and Teeger, Consulting Detectives. It’s time to stop bickering and get to work when Lieutenant Amy Devlin comes to them for help.

A disgruntled employee came into work and started shooting, killing three coworkers and leaving a female hostage severely wounded. After spotting the shooter through office windows, the police lost him—leaving Lieutenant Devlin with a real mess on her hands.

Visiting the bedridden survivor, Monk finds her to be helpful, cooperative…and quite charming as well. But the more he and Natalie try to track down the assailant, the more he seems to have disappeared from existence altogether....

Mr. Monk and the Silent Suspect It's a big day for Monk and Teeger, Consulting Detectives - it's the first day in their new office.  But before Natalie can even throw a proper grand opening party, they have their first client.  Daniela Grace, a local lawyer that Natalie has met, has been hired by a man accused of murder.  After all, he was found with a shovel in an empty field dragging a recently deceased body.  While maintaining his innocence, he refuses to say what he was doing in the lot. They are just beginning to investigate this case when they are called to the scene of an office shooting.  Amy Devlin has been in charge, and somehow the suspect slips right by the police.  Miraculously there is one survivor, and Monk immediately takes to her.  However, there is no trace of the gun man.  Can Monk find this mysterious murderer? As you can imagine, these two cases are more than enough to keep Monk and Natalie busy through the entire book, and they are also enough to keep us very entertained.  While I did have one part of one of the mysteries figured out, I still missed big chunks of things until Monk gave us his summation.  As for character development, I'm wondering just where the next book will go since several things are left up in the air.  The comedy was still here as well.  When I wasn't laughing out loud, I was smiling at most of the pages. Whether you were a fan of the show or are just a fan of these fantastic tie-in novels, you won't be disappointed with the latest in this great series.

I have read all of the MONK series from the beginning, except the one after this which will be next-ish.I thought this was the best Hy Conrad MONK book to date. I'm sorry to hear that the next Conrad will be the last.  This doesn't mean that I haven't had problems getting used to the way he tells the stories compared to the way Goldberg told them but I muse to the change in style now. This Monk book has more of Monk, I don't like it when the books get to be too much'Natalies' story.  And the is more humor in this one than Conrad's previous ones, so I am a happy reader . Recommended. And I sure do hope someone else is going to take up the task of continuing this great series!  I
