Mr Noon
‘Mr Noon’ is D H Lawrence. The novel continues where ‘Sons and Lovers’ left off and relates Lawrence’s affair with Frieda Lawrence and their elopement to Europe. It takes in their travels through German, Austria and Italy and charts their tempestuous but always loving relationship.
The main difference between the two novels is one of tone. ‘Sons and Lovers’ was always serious with little humour and Lawrence was never fully objective in his treatment of his early life. ‘Mr Noon’ on the other hand is full of humour and Lawrence adopts a gently, almost mocking tone as he examines his later life.
‘Mr Noon’ is not finished and was not published in Lawrence’s life time.
