Overview

Skirt chasing, wise cracking, dysfuntional PI Dev Haskell leaves his usual stool at the Spot Bar to take on what looks like a cakewalk job, providing protection for Mr. Softee. Turns out Mr. Softee is anything but... He's a ruthless 'entrepreneur' with a flash temper, a mean streak a mile wide, a laundry list of people who want to do him in and a sex crazed girlfriend named Lola. Things go from bad to worse until Dev enlists the help of former client, sometimes friend and felon, Tony "Dog" Colli. Murder, mayhem, double cross and bodies follow in their wake. It's the St. Paul your mother warned you about, delivered with a healthy serving of the bizarre. A fast paced tale of bottom feeders and criminal class. Mr Softee is another journey through the screwed up world that's Dev Haskell's life.

Meet the Author

Mike Faricy lives in St. Paul, Minnesota and Dublin, Ireland. He's been a soldier, a bartender, and a freelance journalist. He's sold designer cakes as well as owned a painting and decorating company. On the off chance none of his paying jobs offend you, he also plays the bagpipes in the Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band.

All Mike's books are stand alone, you can read them in any order. He writes of the St. Paul your mother warned you about, filled with the sort of oddballs and flakes that make us curious, but we wisely prefer to keep at a distance. None of his characters will be saving the world from terrorism, international banking conspiracies or coups to take over the government. Mike's characters inhabit a world just below the surface of polite society with one foot on either side of the law. They serve not so much as an example but as a warning. The circumstances of their lives are usually the result of bad decisions, but then bad decisions make for very interesting stories.
