    The Elders speak their knowledge.

Mrs Julia's old sayings took me back to a time that reminded me of my grandma. Back to a time when the elders spouted knowledge and the young'uns listened.

Such an outstanding book and remarkable words of wisdom!

This book reminds me of my grandmother and great aunts and the wonderful lessons I learned from them. Mrs. Julia's Old Sayings are truly words of wisdom that we need today in our life! It brought back so many memories of the things my grandmother would tell us during our weekends and summer visits. What a remarkable piece of work!

    Therapy for the soul!

Mrs. Julia¿s old sayings is a gateway back to when things were both simple and com-plex. It is a journey to when respect was given to those that held our families together through the good and bad times - our elders. There are times when reading the book that one can stop, close one¿s eyes and travel back to one¿s youth - remembering those holiday gatherings, good times (such as wed-dings and graduations) and tragedies (such as a crippling illnesses or the death of a loved one). But this book is also a reminder of how important families are in shaping who we are and who we will become. For in keeping with Sociologist¿s Charles Cooley¿s Theory of the Looking Glass self, we are a reflection of our social interactions with those that care for, nurture us and in Mrs. Julia¿s case, give us tough love occasionally. I remember as a little child, sitting on the porch next my Grandmother, listening to her stories and won-dering how she thought of me. While she was not an overly affectionate woman, you could tell when she cared for you. Sitting there on the porch with my grandmother through countless of evenings, I began to develop a sense of worth and feel that I owe everything that I have accomplished in life to her. So while the book is a fun read, let us also take from it the life long lesson of family val-ues and remember the sacrifices made by those before us. Let us remember a wise old lady¿s sayings and continue to try and spread her (and others like her) wisdom and pre-serve our family traditions and mores.
