More About The Author, Peter Alexander
Mubu The Little Animal Doctor series creator and author, Peter Alexander, has been writing about animals since he was twelve years old. His first book was called Striped Chipmunk. He took his book to Thornton W. Burgess, the famed author of the Old Mother West Wind series, which included Peter Rabbit Jimmy Skunk, Sammy Jay, Bobby Raccoon, Little Joe Otter, Grandfather Frog, and other beloved animals.
Mr Burgess encouraged Peter to keep writing about animals. After he graduated from Boston University, Peter wrote and directed the famous documentary film called The Animals are Crying, which told the story
of unwanted cats and dogs in the United States. His movie won first prizes at three film festivals.
In Thailand, Peter became concerned about the plight of elephants in that country. He wrote a screenplay entitled The Earth Trembled that dramatized the problems of those great animals. His research led him to Lek
Chailert, founder of the Elephant Nature Park, who told him the story of Goldie, her first elephant.
Today, Peter lives in Thailand and America, and continues to write about Mubu, The Little Animal Doctor, and to help abused and homeless animals wherever he goes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Filled Adventure Worth it's Weight in Gold! This review is from: Mubu & Goldie (Mubu The Little Animal Doctor, 3) The latest book in the "Mubu The little Animal Doctor" children's book series by Peter Alexander, Mubu & Goldie is a delightful book about a little girl ( Mubu ) who gets the biggest pet that one could ever hope for. The Mubu stories are based on the true life childhood adventures of Elephant Whisperer, Lek Chailert. As this story goes, Mubu's grandfather was given an elephant as a gift for saving a man's life in their village. Mubu and her friends spend countless hours having fun with the elephant named Goldie. They splash about in the river and help to feed and care for Goldie. Mubu's brother even tries to find gold inside of Goldie's mouth! The illustrations are so lively, they make any child wish that they were with Mubu and her friends playing with Goldie. A surprise ending tells why this lovely creature is worth her weight in gold... The illustrations by Paulo Sergio are amazing and of a quality rarely seen in children's books. Peter Alexander spins a beautiful tale of a little girl's adventure with her gigantic pet. At the end of the book there is a short story about a baby elephant, as an added bonus. "About" the author, illustrator and a grown up Mubu finish the book off nicely. Any child would love this latest Mubu adventure. All of the books in the "Mubu The little Animal Doctor" series make great read aloud books.
