In this book Professor Greider seeks to carefully listen to narratives of individuals with severe mental illness. She helps the readers understand what resides within the depth of the souls of these individuals. This book is about deep listening and allowing the lives of these individuals to be our guide in understanding and ways to offer caring. It is very refreshing in contrast to those medical model of pure didactic, advising giving, knowledge imparting based on the study of people as object of their research. In contrast, Professor Greider honors the experiences and wisdom that come from these individuals and seeks the sacred within the lives. It also offers great insights gather from the experiences of the sufferers themselves on the type of caring that hurts and the type that heals. This book is filled with wisdom and should be required for all within the field of mental health. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
