Overview

HARRY POTTER DIDN'T DIE.

The seventh and final book is out, but fans still fiercely debate the many controversial issues left unresolved. Now, the experts at MuggleNet.com argue passionately about what really happened and what should have happened.

Would the series be stronger if Harry hadn’t survived?

Should we pity Voldemort or hate him?

Is Severus Snape really a hero?

Should J.K. Rowling have left Dumbledore’s gay sexual orientation a secret?

Did Harry actually die in Deathly Hallows?

Were the Slytherins too demonized, the Hufflepuffs too lame, and the Gryffindors too glorified?

Should J.K.R. write more Harry Potter novels or go out on top?

This isn't saying that Harry should have died

Alright many people are saying that Mugglenet staff, Emerson and Ben are not true fans, because they say that Harry should have died. First of all I agree, it would have made a better book, but not a better ending. What this book is about though, is what WOULD have happened if Harry had died. It also explores many theories, some of which can be found on their podcast, Mugglecast.

    Great Summer Read

Once I started reading this book I couldn't stop. The chapters average 2-3 pages each, so pacing yourself is easy and you can read chapters out of sequence if you like. This book is intelligently written with humor and insight. The authors obviously know the Harry Potter series inside and out, and the essays offer opposing views of many important issues from the seven book series. The essays range from the lighthearted - "Would You Rather Shave Hagrid's Back or Give Voldemort a Foot Massage?" - to literary criticism - "Which Character Fails to Live Up to Expectations." Some essays are serious, and some are laugh out loud funny. This book is written for grown ups and young adults: a great summer read.

    Not what you think...

The title of the book is a tad misleading, as certain, er, "enthusiastic" fans have misinterpreted. The title refers both to the character and the buzz and how it would have impacted Book 7. It also, if you read the back cover, considers the merits and drawbacks of other Book 7 revelations, such as Snape's allegances and Dumbledore's sexual orientation. It seems fascinating, as Mugglenet is a reputable and perhaps the authoritative fan site. I just read Deathly Hallows recently and absolutely intend to order this!

    Excited!

This book sounds interesting, and it obviously has a catchy title, which, of course, was explained in full on Mugglenet.com, which is an AWESOME website! I really hope that they stop by my home town if they do a tour, that would be cool. Once I get some money I want to get this! And whoever said it was a spoiler, that is stupid, Deathly Hallows was released almost 2 years ago, it's your own fault if you didn't read it. And you're seriously missing out, because that was like the best book in the series...

    Terrible

JK Rowling Should be admired for her literary talent not made fun of for puting in some wierd "subjects" into her books. Barnes and Noble should take this book off shelves everywhere! If you fellow readers agree, comment. Also, I didn't mean to rate this book 1 star. I meant to rate it negative 5 stars!!!!!!!!!

Great discussion book for Harry Potter fans

I highly enjoyed this book, and have since debated the topics with friends who are also Harry Potter fans. It's a fun book, but they know their stuff too.

    I Also Recommend:

I really wanted to like this book...

But the fact remains that this book did not meet my expectations. It is very clear, from the glaring factual error on the first page, the numerous gramatical errors through out the book, and the often weak and strained arguments, that this was a book written in haste. Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that Half Blood Prince is coming out in a few days, this book would have never seen the light of day, not without some serious editing. While I admire Emerson and Ben for all they have done for the fandom, they really do a poor job representing themselves as "experts." On the first page of the book, they get the name of MuggleNet's podcast (which Ben HOSTED) wrong, and then later, make a few errors that would make a careful Potter reader cringe. That aside though, the arguments in places are redundant, poorly supported, and very biased.

That's not to say the book didn't have its good points. When the two of them were being intentionally funny and light hearted, they did succeed in making me giggle. The debate topics were also very clever over all. The book would have almost been better if they had skipped the long winded arguments for each side, and merely presented each point with a short and witty blurb.

    DUMB! DUMB! DUMB!

The Harry Potter book is a book ....a story....... a series...... Written by a author who alot of people read ALL OVER THE WORD! And was enjoyed the way it was written and the way it ended, why can't people just read it and enjoy it the way it was written. If you don,t like the story or the way it was told then WRITE YOUR OWN!!!! And shut up, people who wish a story ended different or a movie ended different it happens everyday. I have done it.... Watch a movie and yell at the screen like " OMG! I can,t beleive they ended it like that!" So what you watched a movie or read a book and you disagree with the author so what that is how the world turns. Everybody has a idea if you don,t like it don,t ever read or watch it again. Or again write your own but don,t cut down someone else because you may or may not like what the say in their version. Get over it already! She must gave done something right cause BILLIONS OF PEOPLE HAVE READ OR WATCHED THE SERIES! Don,t hate just cause she was that great at what she does and you are not, or haven,t tryed. I loved the books and the movies and wouldn,t change a thing.
