I enjoyed it, but it's not my favorite Agatha Christie, as it's a little heavy on the murders.

I didn't even come close to quessing the guilty person. I love Agatha Christie's writing as they always keep me intereste.

The vivid characters, the involved plots, the double entendres and hidden meanings, the historic backdrop of village England - it's all here in this page turner.

Good story but I figured out who the killer was about half way through. Christie seems to use the same basic plot structure in all her books but just changes the character names and places. If you read enough of her stories, it does get a bit boring. Once again, Miss Marple doesn't seem to be a main character. She just shows up and solves the mystery!

In the Chipping Cleghorn’s local newspaper, a mysterious advertisement is found. It states a murder will happen at the home of an elderly lady named Miss Blacklock. Many of the villager’s residents become concerned and intrigued. They arrive at the appointed time to see what will occur. Who wants whom dead? Will Miss Marple have the answers to solve this diabolical crime? I agree with the critics who state that Agatha Christie is one of the best mystery writers. This story is a very interesting puzzle, which left me confounded until the very end. I loved that the characters thought to be innocent were not, and the others were hiding something. There was just enough descriptive detail to get my imagination going. The one drawback is that some old English words are not appropriate for today’s readers.

So often, nobody in their right mind could have possibly figured out who the guilty party was before the big reveal. This is an exception. Pay attention, watch for subtle clues, and you might be able to deduce the killer in the end. (In the interest of full disclosure, I must state for the record that I was waaaay off) Good Luck

This is classic Agatha Christie. It's not only a really good mystery filled with interesting characters, it's a book with well written characters. I felt like these characters had lives beyond the book. Christie was not only a great mystery writer, she was a great writer. This book is not just about a series of murders... there are bits and pieces of how those murders affect a small community. And embedded within that structure there is a time capsule of England and what it was like in a time of flux following the war - the changes and how the people were reacting to that set of changes. Highly recommended.
