On her way to Scotland Yard to report several murders in her village, an elderly woman encounters retired policeman Luke Fitzwilliam. Meet the Author

Agatha Christie
Agatha Christie
Agatha Christie is nearly synonymous with upper-class British mysteries, for good reason. She set the standard for the genre in over 60 novels and dozens of short stories, also creating two classic detectives: the fastidious Belgian, Hercule Poirot, and English spinster Jane Marple. No one could match Christie's knack for weaving clues into her stories, then turning the whole thing inside out -- shocking her readers every time.

Biography

Agatha Christie is the world's best-known mystery writer. Her books have sold over a billion copies in the English language, and another billion in 44 foreign languages. She is the most widely published author of all time in any language, outsold only by the Bible and Shakespeare. Her writing career spanned more than half a century, during which she wrote 79 novels and a short story collection, as well as 14 plays, one of which, The Mousetrap, is the longest running play in history. Two of the characters she created, the brilliant Belgian detective Hercule Poirot and the irrepressible and relentless Miss Marple, went on to become world famous detectives. Both have been widely dramatized in feature films and made-for-TV movies. Agatha Christie died in 1976.

Entertaining enough but not Dame Agatha's best effort

I thought this Agatha Christie book was a bit sub-par. I was pretty sure of the direction the investigation was going to take and of "whodunnit" quite a while before it was revealed (which wasn't the case with the other three Christie mysteries I have read). The setup was a lot like the setup to the movie "Hot Fuzz" which kind of made me chuckle, but, sadly enough, I though that stupid comedy movie had a much more clever ending than this novel. Ultimately, entertaining enough, but certainly not Dame Agatha's best effort.

Love having Agatha Christie's work on CD

Wonderful story, as are most of Agatha Christie's. Love her style of writing, love her characters, love her stories. Simply great to have them on CD's. I have many of her works on CD and listen to them as I go to work and back. Hugh Fraser is definitely my favorite of all the people who do the readings of her novels/stories.

    I Also Recommend:

    EXCITING READ!

Agatha Cristie did a really good job setting up the plot for this story. Although it went a little slow for me I thought that it was a really good read! There are many twists that are not expected...you will be surprised at the end!

    Very good book!

We really enjoyed this book! We really liked how there was a lot of deaths in such a short period of time. At first we thought we weren't going to like the book but we turned out to enjoy it! Even though there was no Hercule Poirot, it was still awesome! We highly recommend this book to all Christie fans!

    fast-paced for an AC mystery

This book is sure worth reading despite there being no hercule poirot or miss jane marple. one of the basic things that i liked about the book was that it has too many murders taking place in a short span of time. another noteworthy thing - it is not a 'one room' mystery where one would have to keep track of all minute details like you had in cards on the table (which was no doubt excellent). i personally feel that in stories like this one readers dont have to tax their grey cells as the plot does not move at a languid pace. i mean like it did in murder of roger ackroyd.
