MURDER IS MISUNDERSTOOD (Bad Mothers Club Cozy Mystery #1)

When Denver stay-at-home mom Becky Montgomery caught her husband of twenty years in their bed with another woman, she never dreamed her three children would blame her for the resulting divorce.

Feeling like maternal failures, she and two friends (feisty PI Sam and No-One’s-Accused-Me-Of-Being-Mother Teresa) form the Bad Mothers Club in order to deal with their various child-related heartaches more positively.

When her ex-husband, Jack, is accused of murdering Becky’s first post-divorce date, the Bad Mothers set out to prove his innocence, but only for the sake of her children.

These Bad Mothers have faced everything from terrible twos and sleep deprivation to rebellious teens and heartbreak -- they’re not about to let a mere murderer stop them from winning the Worst Mother of the Month award.

Meet the Author

Raised overseas by her shop-til-you-drop mother and pay-for-the-purchases oilman father, avid mystery and romantic comedy lover Heather read her way through Colombia, Venezuela, London, Kuwait, and Iran--and later bought a video store so she could watch stories on the little screen, too.

She loves anyone who can make her laugh, which explains why she adores her witty husband, her funny friends, Anne George mysteries, Bill Cosby, and her cute little dog Gus. She loves to cook for friends, siblings, and especially her children and stepchildren and their families. She and her husband reside in Utah. You can find her online at www.BooksByHeatherHorrocks.com.

    Wonderful!

I can’t praise Heather’s novels enough. This book is so good. The situations are real and tragic (divorce, murder, etc.) and yet I laughed anyway. Becky and her friends were awesome. We should all have girlfriends like that. The community they live in and the people who they interact with are so much fun! Loved the characters! I found myself laughing and even crying a bit as the characters worked through their problems in a way that was touching and funny.

    Great book

In the overview, this book was reported to be about 260 pages. When I brought it up on my nook it was over 1100 pages, since it took about ten hours to read it, I am inclined to think it was closer to the thousand page mark. The editing on this $3.00 book was 95% correct. In one place, a woman was married and divorced herself and bought a house four doors down from herself and lived in both. The author meant ex husband, but kept writting ex wife. There were several other similar mistakes. This was a great book. There was some mild violence and a non descriptive murder. There was humor and a dab of romance. This novel did not have sex, cursing, or religion. The plot was great. I liked all the characters, they were like real people. Whodunit and why was not the who and why, I thought it was. I was sure I had it all figured out early on, but I was shocked at the conclusion, because I was so far off, it was amazing. This book was not what I thought it would be. It was so much better. I was expecting one of those sappy, rather stupid mysteries, where the women screw everything up in a suppossedly funny way, yet come out smelling like roses, rescued by the men over and over. Instead, this was a true to life mother, with good friends, struggling to get past a painful divorce and raising a rebellious teenage daughter. I loved this book. I tried to purchase the second one in the series, DRESSED TO KILL, but it is currently unavailable from B&N. Dog gone it! This is chick lit at its finest. For readers 16 and older. Even non mystery lovers would enjoy this book. I do not give books five stars very often, especially if the editing is not perfect, but this book deserved a five star rating.

    Bad Mothers Club#1

Just finished the first book in series and really enjoyed it. One mistake I noticed is the dates at the end. Story is resolved on Halloween, but " forty eight hours later", on September 2 the girls get together for a celebration. Huh?! That should be November 2, unless I really missed something.
