Here comes the bride....and a body.

Murder of a Wedding Belle opens with Skye Denison reluctantly agreeing to be maid of honor in her cousin Riley's wedding. She quickly regrets that decision when she finds out that her duties include being at the beck and call of Belle, a very demanding wedding planner. Just when it looks like things can't get any worse, Belle ends up murdered a week before the wedding and Skye must pull double duty- as a wedding planner to ensure the wedding goes smoothly and as a consultant for the police department to help find the killer.

As with the others in the Scumble River Mystery series, there are plenty of laughs and no shortage of suspects. The Doziers and Simon's mother Bunny provide much entertainment and the fight between Wally and Simon for Skye's affection provides some very interesting moments as well.

    recommended for fun!

This is the 12th Scumble River book and the fun continues! I love the family interactions and comedic situations Skye always finds herself in. The ending has a romantic cliffhanger - I can't wait for the next one to see how Skye handles all this!

    I Also Recommend:

    Good main character

I enjoyed this book. The main character is everyman enough but still attractive and fun. She still makes mistakes but is intelligent. Scumble River is a believable small town that everyone would want to visit. It was a good enough read that I went and found another in the Scumble River series.

    I Also Recommend:

    Belle doesn't disappoint

The book begins with Shye thinking about her possible engagement to Wally, the local Sheriff whom she's had feelings for since she was in high school. Her decision is put on hold when her cousin blows into town with her own wedding to plan and she want's Skye involved every step of the way. More so when the hoity wedding planner from California is found murdered.
Just the same as the rest of her Skye Dennison series, the latest from Ms. Swanson delivers. Can't wait until the next installment!

    I Also Recommend:

Murder and weddings always go together ; )

It seems no matter where Skye goes there is a murder. Oh boy here we go again. I love her struggles with choosing the best husband material of two boyfriends, an ex and a current. She can't seem to make up her mind. She seems to get stuck in family situations she wishes to avoid. I am with Skye. Run run as fast as you can! She ends up getting suckered into becoming the wedding coordinator after the former one is murdered. Grandma smiles and Skye's mouth just has to say yes to keep the relatives happy. Skye sense of humor and fun loving midwestern girl ways appeal to the masses!

    excellent police procedural

Scrumble River school psychologist Skye Denison also serves as a consultant to the police department run by her boyfriend Wally Boyd. Six months ago, the Chief of Police asked Skye to marry him, but though she loves Wally she keeps putting him off with excuses as she fears placing her heart on the line again.

Trouble starts for Skye when her California cousin Riley decides to marry her powerful millionaire fiancé in Scrumble River. She reluctantly agrees to serve as maid of honor but when elitist snob wedding planner Belle Canfield informs Skye that her Cuz named her as her wedding assistant on this event, Skye becomes extremely upset. Although she tries, she cannot get out of working for the stern taskmistress who antagonizes everyone she meets until Belle pushes someone over the edge and murders her. Skye assists Wally on the homicide investigation while also putting together the marriage ceremony as the paid wedding planner.

As always with a Scrumble River police procedural (see Murder of a Royale Pain) Denise Swanson combines humor and romance within an intriguing homicide investigation while the support cast feels like friends. There are plenty of suspects just on the wedding list and Skye using her psychological skills find many with strong motives, but must ferret out who would act on the desire. Readers who have put together a social event like a wedding will commiserate with the heroine, as she finds relief in working the Murder of a Wedding Belle.
