    Over 300 pages

This 300+ page book has a lot of trucking lingo in it. It describes almost every breath the truckers, Mike and Jim take, where they go, what they eat, when they sleep and shower ect., and every inch of the road they drive through Canada, along with the weather. I know the weather is very important to cross counntry and over the road drivets, but this got old very fast. Mike is the main character, he is a truck driver, investigator, married and has a mistress. I do not care for men that have mistresses. Get a divorce! There is violence, cursing, murder, sex, infedelity, some very descriptive. Quite frankly, I found this book boring. It was pretty well edited, free, number 1 of a series, has a decent conclusion and a unique plot. There was a good flow from one event to the next. It was also believable. I think this book was written with a male readership in mind. It is not a chick book by any means. I recommend it to mystery readers, ages 18 and up. It was a bit too amoral for me.

What a wild story! Completely engaging and a lot of fun. Truckin

What a wild story! Completely engaging and a lot of fun. Trucking 101! Who knew? The relationship stuff is really surprising especially given the size of the town. Surprise, followed by a lot of blinking..by me anyway. The trucker Mike is like a Canadian, road-version of a well connected sleuth for an insurance company with James Bond like sensibilities and many hats. Does he get the girls? Yup! Well, the girls get the guys too, so, it’s all okay. I thought I'd nailed the culprit a couple of times but, it's not that "easy". A good one to tuck into on vacation because it’s long enough to savor. There’s another world out there right under our noses, apparently. Quantum transport! An excellent read.

WAAAAYY too long + repetitive. Main character an ass

Does anyone have a libido like this jerk? I cannot imagine women putting up with his antics in real life. Mystery an afterthought to all the sex. Don't waste your time on this one - wish I hadn't.

Gave up on page 36. The "past tense" writing, and incorrect word and apostrophe use drove me crazy. Too much irrelevant detail and a main character that is completely unlikeable just make this book unreadable for us.

As another reviewer put it , is is definately NOT a "chick book".
I too, was bored with it, but did read it to the end. Characters were not developed very well, other than we knew they all LOVED sex. There is a murder mystery somewhere in here, but it gets lost in all the details not relevant to the story line.
Mike is an oversexed trucker/P.I. He cheats on his wife with anything he can get. But hey, it doesn't matter, because his wife cheats with the neighbor, and then they all get together to screw each other on a regular basis, at times as a four-some. There is also his horny mistress and a few others tossed in for good measure. It all works out for Mike though, because he is such a stud, no woman can resist him and none of them care about the others...... Very, very unbelievable and really irrevelant, too bad.
I'll rate it three just to be fair.

    Sorry

The start gets to bogged down in minutiae. Or maybe it just because I was a OTR driver for so long. Realy wanted to like this but just couldn't get into it.

If you can get past the way it was written then you will be able to get past the grammatical errors of the proof reader (who was Dave Horton himself) He uses Your for both Your and You're. Their, There, and They're is , well you see the point I am sure. I gave two stars because it was a toss up between one and two.

Only fair at best. Possible potential in author?

They say the devil is in the details. This book has too many details of a truckers trip(s), too many details about what an unbelieveable stud the hero is (has wife, mistress, lover, and more besides), not enough details about how he figures out who the bad guy is. Last clue falls into place way too conveniently. Hero seems fairly smart until end when he goes into villians lair completely unarmed. No purpose to last issue with truck. This was a free Nook book & I think this was first book by author. He may have potential but unfortunately I did not find this engaging enough to consider purchasing next in series.

Not for everyone, but still a good book.

A fiction book with a lot of factual parts regarding tractor trailer driving. The wife swapping and adultry might not appeal to some , but overall the book is well written. I look forward to reading more of the Mike Claymore mysteries.
