More About This Book

Overview

After a brutal mugging in Manhattan leaves him with a broken arm and fractured skull, insurance investigator Jeff Resnick reluctantly agrees to recover at the home of his estranged half brother, Richard. At first, Jeff believes his graphic nightmares of a slaughtered buck are just the workings of his traumatized mind. But when a local banker is found in the same condition, Jeff believes the attack has left him with a sixth sense--an ability to witness murder before it happens.

Piecing together clues he saw in his visions, Jeff attempts to solve the crime. His brother Richard is skeptical, but unsettling developments begin to forge a tentative bond. Soon, things that couldn't be explained by premonition come to light, and Jeff finds himself probing into dangerous secrets that touch his own traumatic past in wintry Buffalo--and the killer is ready to eliminate Jeff's visions permanently.

    Jeff Resnick is wonderful

Jeff Resnick is my favorite reluctant hero. He is mugged, badly beaten, on his way home one night and ends up moving to Buffalo with his successful half-brother. He he begins dreaming of violence and soon discovers that his dreams, and feelings, are in fact reality...an ability he doesn't want. Being the man that he is, Jeff uses his knowledge to investigate a brutal murder and works to solve the case before yet another murder occurs.

He is such a strong character who brings a such a wealth of emotion that wanting to read the next book is inevitable. It's hard to describe the range of feelings that one experiences while following his uncomfortable relationship with his half-brother to the budding relationship with a woman he meets in the course of his investigation to his conversations with the old lady in the bakery Jeff becomes becomes a man that one should definitely have the opportunity to meet.

I recommend this book for anyone who wants a good solid mystery with a very memorable protag.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Characters well developed and details in general helped to really "see" and feel the story. Went on to read the next in the series almost immediately.
