DCI Kate Daniels, her partner Hank Gormley, with the rest of the MIT are tracking a killer. Kate is also still trying to solve an unsolved from the prior year. As it turns out, the cases may be related.

Vibrant details fill the pages for character, scenery, and narrative descriptions allowing rich and thorough enjoyment throughout the tale.

As the narrative progresses, we learn as the characters learn about the twisting mysteries, as well as, the personal obstacles the characters face and overcome. The story line is primarily told from the perspective of Kate Daniels, yet does seamlessly shift to other perspectives as needed.

Both the action and the mystery components of the story are well plotted and consistent throughout.

    Overall, a thrilling read!

    412 pages

This book has 412 pages. It is very violent. The murders are extremely graphic. The first few pages described the rape and murder of a young girl in such a graphic, horrifying manner, I almost deleted the novel then and there. Murder mysteries are my favorite genre and I thought I could handle most of the details, authors could come up with, but this book was very disturbing. It haunted me for a long time. This book contains some cursing, child abuse, sexual abuse, rape, sex, horrific details of the murders, other crimes, some religion and is a bit long winded in spots. The main character, a woman detective is egotistical and causes a lot of problems because of her vanity. She thinks she can do everything all by herself. This book is well edited, with a well thought out and has an intense plot. There are a lot of characters and I had a bit of trouble keeping them straight. It is set in England and uses British slang and mannerisms. The more I read, the better it got. I wish it had been less graphic though. For all adult readers without nervous constitutions.

    Great detective mystery

I enjoy murder mysteries that focus on the police point-of-view. This book is very well written, engaging, with interesting and complex characters. In the beginning of the investigation, it is apparent that the lead detective, Daniels, should recuse herself from the case for personal reasons (unknown to the reader) but doesn't, which made me so uncomfortable I almost stopped reading. However, as the book continues, it makes perfect sense when you find out why, and I was very glad I'd continued.

Another enjoyable aspect of the writing in this book was the use of British slang. I sometimes have difficulty understanding this slang, being from the other side of the pond, but the author's writing makes situations and conversational meanings very clear, whether slang is being used or not. And furthur, it was an education for me!

I really enjoyed this book and had a hard time putting it down.

I did read the book. It's not bad reading, but I've read much better mysteries. A great portion of the book is devoted to personal conflicts of some of the characters. Can't say that I can recommend it though.

    Dont like lesbian romance

Writing was slow & tedious. So many different characters you can't keep track of who they are. So much British slang you need a special dictionary to understand what she's saying. Too many anagrams. Boring.
