Olivia's Wedding is Joy Ross Davis' short story contribution to Murray Pura's Cry of Freedom Anthology. As the Civil War battles move closer to the family home, plans proceed for Olivia's dream wedding. Her mother's gardening skills have made the lawns and flower gardens a beautiful, amazing place to have the wedding.
Daniel, the groom, is off at war, adding to the stress -- will he be able to leave his position?
Calm reigns through the character of Cyrus and the gentle mare Marigold as a mysterious, magical wedding dress appears in Livvy's room.
All comes together as angels care for the family in the path of the battle and for those who 'want to go home'.
Joy Ross Davis has given her sweet angel treatment to this story of families in the woes of the Civil War where different opinions and philosophies cost happiness and lives...where do people find peace and protection when the future holds an overwhelming task of rebuilding after destruction?
As a part of the Cry of Freedom anthology planned by Murray Pura and enthusiastically joined by excellent and informed authors, Olivia's Wedding will be one of your favorite 'reads.'

Joy Ross Davis writes a sweet story about a family--Father, Mother, and daughter Olivia--and their stable hand Cyrus and horse Marigold.
Olivia is engaged to get married in a week, but her soon to be husband--Daniel--is fighting in the Civil War. Will Daniel come home in time for their marriage?
Olivia's father isn't too happy about their upcoming marriage and her mother has never completely recovered from her grandmother's sudden death. Olivia's grandmother wanted her to get married in a beautiful gown to a man who adored her. Then a week before her marriage Olivia finds a beautiful dress on her bed. Nobody knows where it's coming from...
Olivia has found a good friend in Cyrus--who has been with the family for almost 25 years--and he always has a listening ear for her.
Olivia's father and Cyrus speak to each other about their worries about the war coming closer to their home. And then one night something happens that changes everything...
SWEET - that is the best word I can think of to describe this short story by Joy Ross Davis--a sweet voice that tells a sweet little love story with a spark of magic and fluttering of wings. Nice Joy, very nice!
