This is the first edition of a musculoskeletal anatomy text and guide for dissection. It is designed for students of occupational and physical therapy. The purpose is to teach musculoskeletal anatomy with an emphasis on clinical problem solving. It is intended primarily to be a guide for dissection of the back and limbs. This book is written for occupational and physical therapy students. However, because most physical therapy curricula require knowledge of muscles of the head, neck, thorax, abdomen, and pelvis in addition to muscles of the back and limbs, this book will have limited use in those curricula. This laboratory manual is adequately illustrated with black-and-white line drawings. The book is organized into 13 dissection chapters. Each chapter consists of didactic material interspersed with italicized dissection instructions. Each chapter ends with a table of muscles, questions and answers, laboratory identification check list, and definitions. The well-organized index locates structures by both chapter and page numbers. The unique feature of this book is the integration of didactic material with laboratory instructions. Otherwise, its descriptions, figures, and general organization do little to make this laboratory manual stand out from the many dissectors available. The short scope of this book makes it adaptable to condensed courses. However, because most physical therapy curricula cover more than just musculoskeletal anatomy of the back and limbs, the usefulness of this book will be limited.
