Children's LiteratureTen blocks make up this set and the illustrations on each face run the gamut from early works to contemporary well-known artists. Heavy cardboard with a glossy finish constitute each of the blocks, which can be assembled into a stack three feet high. The insert describes and names each picture, but this will be the part that adults will need to handle. Kids can pay with the blocks, but of course will need and adult to discuss the images on the blocks. It would be just as much of a success with kids who enjoy building towers as those older art students and teachers who enjoy seeing what can be done with fine art. It is a real pleasure to see the contrasts—a Japanese bridge, detail from and apron of Cameroon origin and much much more. It is an education for any age and a great way to introduce an appreciation of art. 2003, Little Brown, Ages 2 up.
