Overview

While this CD collects recordings from throughout the career of new age innovator Steven Halpern, spanning five decades (1970s-2010s), it all retains a timeless quality, making it impossible to discern the recording date of each piece. Halpern was one of the first artists to research brain patterns and create music specifically geared toward relaxation, healing, and stress reduction, and the light, resonating tones produced by his Rhodes electric piano produce exactly the type of calming effect his music requires. Most of the tracks on this album use the familiar Rhodes sound, or other keyboards, but the 14-minute "Chakra Healing" has a sampled "celestial choir", and a few other pieces feature guest musicians, such as cellist David Darling and harpist Georgia Kelly on "Heartnotes 2.0" and "Apollo's Lyrce 2.0," respectively. All the pieces are uncomplicated and untethered, and yes, they are incredibly relaxing. ~ Paul Simpson
