Music of Hope

Editorial Reviews

Barnes & Noble - Carol Wright
An elegant tribute to the strength of those living with cancer, as well as those who stand by them, this moving benefit for the American Cancer Society embraces a remarkably cohesive assortment of music and musicians -- including such virtuosos as Ray Charles and Andre Previn, magnificent orchestras, and compositions by Paul McCartney and Billy Joel. Under the direction of composer Tim Janis, the project soars to inspiring heights. The London Symphony Orchestra turns Joel's debut Classical work, "Elegy: The Great Peconic," into one of the Piano Man's grandest efforts, and supports Charles in a hearty rendition of "Amazing Grace." Janis's verdant strings and soaring ...

The London Symphony Orchestra turns Joel's debut Classical work, "Elegy: The Great Peconic," into one of the Piano Man's grandest efforts, and supports Charles in a hearty rendition of "Amazing Grace." Janis's verdant strings and soaring horns make for inspirational musical vistas, while Joel and McCartney's piano pieces play in delicate counterpoint to Janis's rhapsodic textures. Previn performs a snappy arrangement of Cole Porter's "Why Shouldn't I," while fellow pianist Emanuel Ax brings a stately Bach sarabande to life. "For You Alone," the Janis composition that closes the album, seems to channel the strength and reassurance of a healing angel. Noble and uplifting, Music of Hope offers an opportunity to support a great cause and sample some truly transcendent music.

    Another winner for Tim Janis * * * * *

I love instramental music and Tim Janis' music helps me to dream of the places in his music. Music of Hope goes is more than a title, it brings peace to a day which may have held pain. I applaude all those who participated in its conception and production. In a time of budget cuts and people in general not being able to give to have a cd whose profits are devoted to such a great cause is refreshing in and of itself. Five stars is not enough.
