Music of Veracruz: The Sones Jarochos of Los Pregoneros del Puerto

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Ron Wynn
Entrancing, often ethereal songs from Los Pregoneros del Puerto, playing music from Veracruz. The most immediately striking characteristic is the harp playing of Gonzalo Mata. His strumming, swirling lines are punctuated by tremendous singing from Jose Gutierrez and equally effective harmonizing. Likewise, the guitar interplay and percussive support add depth to the setting. While this isn't as rhythmic or percussive as other Latin music genres, it has widespread harmonic and melodic appeal. The songs are short none longer than 3 1/2 minutes, but performed with enough vigor to get and hold your attention.
