I love this book so very much. I definitely recommend this for all ages. If you are interested in learning the life of a a girl in the 1700, such as Sybil Ludington, this is your book! This book also talks about Sybil's family as well. If you enjoy this book, I would recommend Summer Of Red Rain. I love all of S.T. DAVIS'S books, and I think others will enjoy them as well.

Davis not only gives a great portrayal of Sybil Ludington's part in the American Revolution, but also a wonderful description of Colonial family life in this beautiful area. A great read for all ages!!

If you're looking for the story of an adventurous teenage heroine, look no further than Musket and Mobcap by S.T. Davis. From the first page the young heroine, Sybil Ludington, faces and overcomes dangers. Based on real people and real events of the Revolutionary War in an area ranging from Fishkill, NY to Danbury, CT, this story of secret missions, spies, and intrigue is sure to engage young people. Sybil is not a timid girl. She's a girl who longs to play a larger role than her gender would normally allow. She gets her wish when she's chosen to carry secret messages to a spy in jail and make a dangerous nighttime ride to muster her father's troops. Primarily an adventure story with a little romance thrown in, Musket and Mobcap keeps the suspense going from chapter to chapter. S.T. Davis also does a good job of describing the everyday life of a teenage girl during Revolutionary times. While she waits for her chance to help the cause against the British, Sybil cooks, cleans, makes candles by hand, takes care of the homestead's horses, and teaches her younger siblings their letters, among other household duties. Musket and Mobcap makes Revolutionary times come alive. Highly recommended!
