Chef, cookbook author, and food columnist Bev Shaffer joined the Mustard Seed in 1997 as cooking school director and bakery director. She compiled this cookbook to share the Mustard Seed motto, "Our food is fresh, our customers are spoiled," with the rest of the nation.
Chef Shaffer has developed more than eight thousand recipes on a wide variety of subjects, including seafood, desserts (especially chocolate), sides, and grains. She teaches in collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic, the Cleveland Botanical Garden, Akron General Wellness Center, and Summa Health Systems.
The author of Pelican's nationally acclaimed Brownies to Die For!, Shaffer is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, Chefs Collaborative, and Women Chefs and Restaurateurs and a founding member of Les Dames d'Escoffier-Cleveland-Northeastern Ohio Chapter. Chef Shaffer's weekly radio segments on WAKR's Morning Drive Time feature quick and easy seasonal recipes. She is a weekly columnist ("Ask Bev") for the Cleveland Plain Dealer's TASTE (Wednesday Food Section) and columnist ("Gadget Freak") for Northern Ohio Live Magazine. She lives in Seville, Ohio.
