    Heartwarming, lovely book - highly recommend!

    Patrick McDonnell uses his beautiful gifts and talents to focus attention on these most neglected of little ones. His poignant stories and heart melting drawings capture the needs of these lovable animals, just pining for a home and place to be loved. Perfect teaching tool for parents wishing to instill a sense of compassion and responsibility in their children.

    This book speaks to your heart

    It's one of the sweetest, most beautiful piece of work/book. Patrick is never preachy, yet his points are always clear: be compassionate to non-human creatures, being good to them makes us better humans. I didn't stop weeping from the page 1 to the last page. And in between, I smiled with genuine pleasure seeing the animals who were adopted into good homes, and the kind and optenhearted comments by the people who adopted them. And of course, the sweet and simple drawings of the "shelter stories" didn't hurt. This is a real piece of jewel for the animal advocates.

    This book melted my heart

    This book is a must have for any pet lover! Its a comic about real shelter pets getting adopted.
    My favorite part of this story book is when a shelter cats only wish was for his cage mate to get a adopted.... well the day comes when he does get adopted and his cat friend is so happy but also so sad because now he is alone, just then a hand reaches in and scoops him out of his cage into a TAKE ME HOME box.. in this box is his cage mate they are going home together!!!!
    This book also has stories about little pets!! Its a great book, worth buying!!!

    As good as I expected.

    I have grown to love this comic strip over the past 2 years, and immediately knew I wanted this book. I love animals and MUTTS, so how could it miss? It doesn't at all. This book is a must for animal lovers, but could also change the heart of anyone who sees animals as unworthy of love. I definitely recommend having a box of tissues nearby. As a testament to McDonnell's drawings, I was moved more by the emotion they carried than the shelter stories themselves. I completed the book in one sitting, only to pause and blow my nose.

    Heartwarming!

    I fell in love with this comic the first time I read it. I was impressed by Patrick McDonnell's compassion for those animals who are in the shelter, waiting for a home. This book has them all together with the real-life counterparts to make it "real". This is a must for any animal lover.

    This book will melt your heart

    A charming book. The stories before the pets were adopted are sometimes heartbreaking. One of the dogs in the book owns my daughter, and you will never find a more loving and loyal companion.

    Anyone who loves animals should have this book. The photos and stories are inspiring, and a very special thanks goes to all the anonymous people who give their time and efforts to shelter animals. The author also deserves special acknowledgement for keeping shelter animals in the public's eye. Too often unwanted animals are forgotten, and this book shows that these animals are not 'throwaways' but capable of forming loving bonds if only given a chance. If I could I would rate this book 10 stars.

    Truly Touching

    The pictures captured the true hearts of these animals and the angels that adopted them. I was happy to find my favorite strips included, especially Chickpea & her brother!

    I couldn't put it down!

    I read through my entire lunch. I even read some several times with tears in my eyes. This shows such insight and caring about the abandoned animals in shelters, how can it not be a winner? I intend to give copies to friends and family for Christmas. Thank you for making the plight of these helpless potential family members to the forefront.

    Heartwarming

    Those who have rescued a pet know that every pet in this book is special. They bring boundless love and affection to their owners. These are not 'perfect' looking animals, but 'perfect' for their forever families. Their outstanding qualities are loyalty and unconditional love!

    LOVED this!

    Shelter Stories. Love. Guaranteed. is the type of book you cannot put down. When I saw the title, I wondered if this would be a sad collection of tales, but it is quite the opposite. It contains such delightful vignettes about once unwanted pets who are now treasured. The photos are phenomenal, and the comics strips are very insightful. I'm not usually a reader of comics, but I'm think I'm going to start reading Mutts. The book just exudes kindness, and puts a smile on your face! It is truly the perfect book for any animal lover. If you love your pet, or are thinking about adding a pet to your family, this is a MUST read. PS The author should get an extra star rating for including an educational reference guide to pets in the back of the book! Some good links in there.

    A must-have, must -read for animal lovers!

    If you've ever read author Patrick McDonnell's comic Mutts, you know what to expect in this charming book. His Shelter Stories strips are some of the most popular of the series--touching, heartbreaking, and joyous! You will love reading the reader-submitted stories about the pets they have rescued. My pal Charlotte the Catahoula, adopted by her lovely mom Haley, is in the book--go get a copy and start reading!!!
