Overview

"Over the years, animal rescue and adoption have transformed my life over and over and over," says author Devon O'Day. In My Angels Wear Fur, her first collection of stories that chronicle the many animals she has rescued, Devon O'Day tells readers about:

Tennessee Tess: A stray dog delivered to her front door by a man working on a construction crew in the neighborhood and who ended up living the glamorous life in Hollywood with O'Day's sister, actress Faith Ford.

The Boxer of Mercy: A brindle boxer who delivers dogs in need to O'Day's front door. As soon as he knows the other dog is in good hands, the boxer disappears.

More than 30 well-written stories will warm your heart and make you understand what O'Day means when she says, "There is a God-like quality in animals. They love without judgment. They are loyal and caring and they see through each of us...to the hidden souls of our real beings."

This book reaches into that soft place many of us have inside that stores our beloved memories of dogs who have walked beside us, loved us, and been our dearest companions. I loved her method of writing and the stories she had to tell.

I'm a sucker for animals stories, and Ms. O'Day has some great ones. She does get a little heavy-handed with the religious references, but if you don't mind that, I think you'll enjoy the stories. My favorite is about the stray boxer who led other animals who needed rescuing her.

I loved the stories. I have always heard the phrase "dumb animals. THEY ARE NOT DUMB! They teach us more than we try to teach them. One of the worst, is the scene of a small child dragging around a defenseless kitten by it's tail, throat, ears, or hitting it with an object, all because the heartless, selfish uncaring parents failed to educate their child how to properly care for a pet. People (the dumb ones) fail to realize that animals have feelings, they hurt, and feel hunger, and want to loved and belong just like humans do. "HAVE YOU HUGGED YOUR PET TODAY"
