Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This is a great book for even the youngest reader. Each page has an interactive activity that keep a newborn stimulated. A 3 to 4 month old will start physically turning flaps and getting involved to begin to develop their sensory and motor skills. This is a teaching board book with big and colorful illustrations of a baby face experiencing the different senses of sight, smell, and taste. The last page is a mirror in the shape of a baby face to allow readers to create their own silly faces. The rhyming text cleverly shows opposites: good and bad sounds, good and bad tastes, and good and bad smells. This is a great tool for helping young ones explore likes and dislikes to help develop those little personalities. 2000, Barron's Educational Services, Ages 3 mo. to 2.

Children's Literature - Children's Literature
This sweetly illustrated board book features a flap on each spread allowing the reader to change the central illustration between two pages. This device is used to demonstrate the reaction of the baby to sounds, good and bad; tastes, good and bad; and smells, good and bad. The final page has a mylar mirror. This is a strange mix, however. The text and topic are meant for children who would not read a board book. All the babies are white, an unnecessary monochromatic touch. Only the Mommy is referred to as being able to soothe the upset baby, or change his diaper, or sing a lullaby. Daddy is only capable of laughing and possessing smelly shoes and socks. This is not a necessary purchase. 2000, Barron's Educational Series, Ages 2 to 3, $3.95. Reviewer: Candace Deisley
