'This is a brief, but moving story of a woman who combs the shore for shells. She originally discards the broken shells in search of perfect ones. Then she comes to realize how we are much like the broken shells, imperfect, but more lovely and hardy because of all we have endured. This is an inspirational book, and I have begun collecting my own broken scallop shells. I place a gold cord through the shell, and place it in the book as a bookmark to give as a gift. I highly recommend this book as an inspiration to anyone who has suffered a loss of any kind, or who is going through a difficult time.

While walking on the beach, in Myrtle Beach SC, collecting shells with my grandchilden, my grandson picked up a shell & threw it back. I asked him what was wrong with that one & he said it was broken. I told him just because something is broken doesn't mean it isn't beautiful. Next day I found this book in a gift shop there & bought it to teach him that lesson. Once I read it - I went back & bought 6 copies to share. One for each of my grandchildren to put away for them when they have difficulties in their lives; one for a specific friend who has been struggling; one to loan to friends during tough times - which I've asked each to leave a little note about their thoughts and of course one for myself which I could read every day as a reminder - that I'm not in this life alone! The Lord is always by my side! Very moving & comforting words...highly recommend! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I was drawn to this book while vacationing in Myrtle Beach. Words cannot express how this book washes over the soul like waves of comfort. I have just picked it up again while cleaning my shelves and again it has comforted me after the recent death of our daughter. This is a book to read, re-read, and share with others. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

I received this book as a gift after my mother passed away. I love it!! It sits out in my living room and just looking at the cover reminds me of all the wonderful words of inspiration on each page. The fact that we live by the beach only made it more meaningful. This book is a great gift to someone who has lost a loved one or who is struggling in some other way.Was this review helpful? I am elderly woman with many health issues. I recently went into a little Gift/Market store, wandering around just looking, all of a sudden this little book almost jumped into my hands, My Beautiful Broken Shell, that was me! When I opened it, I knew by the first page this was my book. Then I realized I had some friends who were ill or caring for a loved one that was very sick. I purchased the 2 books they had, then ordered four more.
I mailed off the five books and sat down to read mine. Every page made sense to me and the little prayer that answers that page, made me smile and gave me hope. I and my friends are Broken Shells, but no longer feeling Hope Less, each time I read that book and look at the beautiful pictures Hope and Peace of mind are mine again. Life is not so bad after all.
