Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 2-This charming book of prayer and thanksgiving begins with the words "Dear God." Each verso has only two sentences: a "Thank you-" for an acknowledged blessing and a "Help me-" that is a request for assistance in being a good person. Topics include family, friends, playtime, the Earth, and the future. Lighthearted, colorful pictures appear on the right, and both text and art are surrounded by a crisp, white backdrop. The joy-filled watercolor vignettes depict an array of people illustrating the themes. For example, the painting that elucidates "Thank you for good things to eat. Help me remember those who are hungry," shows a child and adult sharing their box of popcorn with a flock of birds. Expressing gratitude for good fortune and the desire for continued selfless behavior is pleasantly demonstrated in this volume.-Maryann H. Owen, Racine Public Library, WI Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
