I have found my new favorite author and My Clarity has now becom

I have found my new favorite author and My Clarity has now become my favorite romance story of all time. I was hooked on this story from the first word and it touched my heart all the way to the last word. Dealing with the loss of her beloved father, Alexandria prepares herself to start college. Alex is able to get a room from her cousin Jimmy at his friend, Ellie’s place. Well Ellie is not who Alex was expecting. Ellie is actually Elijah. Elijah has felt loss of his own and knows how broken Ellie is. This makes him more protective of her. She’s not anything like the girls he’s use to and he struggles with his attraction to her. Alex is trying to find her way at school, maintain her long distance relationship with her useless boyfriend Liam and fight her feelings for Elijah. Sometimes you have to let go and trust that you’re with the person you were meant for. Alex and Elijah finally agree that they can’t fight this feeling anymore and embark on the sweetest and most charming romance. This book blew me away and will always remain one of my favorites. So glad I discovered this story and this author.

This book is an emotional, beautiful read that you will fall in love with!!!

Alex is a girl who is dealing with all the emotions from her Fathers death. Alex and her dad were very close. Soon Alex decides to move away to go to college. She leaves her best friend Emma, the man she has been seeing Liam, and her mom behind. She is looking forward to moving on from the memories that make her sad and hopes they will visit her often.

Elijah is a man who has been through his own tragedies. Elijah meets Alex and thinks that she is just another girl who is going to to try to change him and control him. That is the last thing that Elijah needs or wants in his life after his past.

Elijah soon has to decide if he can break down his walls and trust again. Alex is faced with finding out if she loves Liam or is someone else meant for her. Alex wants to find someone who will love her the way her Dad said someone should "Who will make you feel like you're the center of his world. Who will give you the best of him and all of him." '

This is an amazing journey for both Alexandria and Elijah, one of lose, letting go, hope, love, and tragedy! I have to say I did cry and I mean really cry reading several parts of this book, it was so beautifully written!!! I am giving it 5 out of 5 stars.

Alex is still grieving from the loss of her father and she’s hoping that going to college will help ease the pain a bit. College is going to be fun with her new roommate, Ellie, but Ellie is not who Alex expected her to be. Because it appears that Ellie is really Elijah and Alex’s cousin, Jimmy, forgot to mention that one little fact when he gave Alex his old room. Alex can choose to get another place to reside in or she can just live in the moment and enjoy her stay with Elijah. Elijah also has baggage and he’s trying very hard to spare Alex all the pain in his life. But the attraction between the two is undeniable and it will only be a matter of time before they both give in. Maybe Alex and Elijah will be the ones to help each other heal in My Clarity by M. Clarke.

My Clarity by M. Clarke is a romantic and kind of tragic story starring intense and complex characters. It was a little sad because of the back stories of the main characters and Alex and Elijah were both heartbroken at the start of the story. It was enjoyable to read how they developed and healed throughout the whole book with the support and comfort of each other and the friends they made along the way. There were good dynamics between the characters and the story flowed easily. The plot was engaging and the wait to see how the conflict would happen and how it would be resolved was exciting. The ending was lovely and the book is well written with the right amount of angst and emotions thrown in.

Calling this book a rip off is asinine!

There may be similarities but that is no reason to call it theft! I loved this book. It did what a great book or a great song is supposed to do, it made me feel. What more can you really ask for?

    The similarities...

If you have read Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, you will notice the copious amount of similarites. It was not a bad read, I just do not support ripping off someone else's work.

My Clarity was one of those ¿take a chance¿ purchases for me. I¿

My Clarity was one of those ‘take a chance’ purchases for me. I’d attended Mary Ting (M.Clarke’s) facebook release party and my curiosity was piqued, so I went to amazon and read the sample…then it ran out, and I was left wanting more. That first chapter was enough to make me like Alex and feel for her, so I bit the bullet and bought it.

My Clarity takes the normal (somewhat overused) new college experience and makes it into a ‘real’ experience. We’re not given the same story of a girl in college finding love and having a ton of sex, school be damned. Instead we’re given Alex, a college freshman, who is still trying to get a handle on the grief left by her father’s passing and who gets little bit more than she bargained for when she goes to meet her new roommate. She has a good head on her shoulders and she values actual relationships as opposed the sex filled shells of relationships I’m so used to seeing in this age range. Elijah is a bit rough around the edges, but he has a huge heart. I really loved the friendship these two developed, in fact I liked all of the friendships that Alex gains…which is rare for me. Normally I always hate one or more of the friends in NA books, but not this one! They were all supportive of each other and their friendships felt real.

I thought the writing in My Clarity was excellent, including the song lyrics that she wrote. If you didn’t know you can actually listen to the song or buy it on Amazon: Here. It’s not my normal type of music, but I thought it was a really awesome idea to have an actual song to go with the lyrics. Song lyrics in books are one of my biggest peeves in books because unless it’s a song I know I’m forced to try and make up a melody, so normally I just skip it. I will admit that the writing style is probably not for everyone. It is done in two POV’s and the voices are more ‘real’ than other books, because let’s be honest sometimes books feel a tad scripted. I dare you to go say lines from books like The Fault In Our Stars to someone, if you some how manage to make it sound natural you have a talent and you need to exploit it. But I digress, My Clarity has that inner voice thing down without becoming irritating or childish.

My Clarity is one of those books that make me excited to read, and I definitely want to read more from Mary Ting.

Grab a tissue for this book

Holy Cow, what a read. This book had me in tears in the first five minutes. Then once I was able to see through my tears again I really enjoyed it. Great character development and a very sweet story. Then just when I think I am all settled in for a HEA I need more tissues. But not to worry I finished this book on a high note. Great job and not one that will fade away into my memory anytime soon.

My Clarity is an exquisitely passionate story of the power and i

My Clarity is an exquisitely passionate story of the power and impact of true love on a person’s life. You never know when love will take hold of you by complete surprise, and you never which stranger walking alongside of you on the street will fill your heart and complete your soul. This is the heart and soul of the story that lives within the pages of this book. Life should be lived with our eyes open, our minds clear, and our hearts ready to accept a precious treasure when it presents itself.

Alex is desperately trying to deal with the heartache from the loss of her father to lung cancer. He was her world, and he filled her with so much love and hope that she now feels fractured and broken. His last words to her shattered her hear, but at the same time unknowingly planted small seeds of hope and love. She clings to those words as she heads off to college in an attempt to pick herself back up and keep moving. The wonderful friends she finds at college not only turn her world upside, but they begin to slowly heal her wounded heart. Her life is finally starting to turn around. As if on cue, a new complication enters her life, and Alex is not sure how to deal with it. Will she run away in order to keep her life simple and easy, or will she follow her heart and discover something that is only meant for her?

The characters in this book are phenomenal. Each of them brought a unique set of emotions and dynamic that complimented and completed the others. They made the story feel more like real life than merely words written on paper. This is what a masterpiece feels like. It lives and breathes by itself as it makes you a part of its world of surprises and twists. I was completely captivated by Alex’s world. I felt every emotion that was described, and I walked alongside each of them throughout every step of their amazing journey.

My heart is so full and brimming with emotion after coming down from the high that I was pulled into. This story is filled with nuggets of truth and some very thoughtful advice. This is not an easy story. It is one full of inner turmoil, indecision, and confusion. However, once those hurtles are overcome, we experience the best kind of love, hope, and faith that you could ever wish for. The raging storm will end, and when it does, the most brilliant sun will rise filling you with its warmth and joy.

This is by far M. Clarke’s best work. She pulls out all the stops as she pulls your heart in a thousand different directions at once. This story is completely believable in every way, and that’s what makes its impact so powerful. This could be about any girl, and it really is. While we are taught to look for a certain type of guy and define love in certain type of way, the reality of it is that we cannot truly and effectively fathom or define guys and love in a way that gives either of them the justice they deserve. It’s utterly insane to think that we can put love and guys in a nice, neat little box. As humans we thrive on our prowess to define and analyze anything and everything, but when it comes to the heart, our analysis will fail us every time. The heart is not meant to be critiqued and dissected. It was meant to be used to feel and to touch others. The only way that we will ever be able to live and love the way that we were created to is for us to finally realize that love is indescribable, indiscriminant, and incomprehensible. You can’t use your mind to control your heart because you will lose that battle every time, so save yourself the heartache and let love lead the way.

What an emotional read! My Clarity is an emotionally charged new adult/college contemporary romance. Both Alex and Elijah has had tragedy and loss in their lives, and, yet, they find the strength to keep going...with the support of friends as well. Two completely opposite people, yet similar, become unlikely roommates in college. Although some time has passed, both are still grieving in their own ways. I was drawn into their lives with each turn of the page, as they were drawn to each other! Whoa! That's instense...haha! I was emotionally reeling throughout the book, then smiling as their story came together.

Mary Ting writing as M. Clarke has written an exquisitely realistic and romantic story of loss and love in My Clarity. She revealed the power of family and friendship in the midst of tragedy and heartbreak. She had me laughing, crying and frustrated as I read Alex and Elijah's story. Told in both points of views, gave the story depth as both Alex and Elijah learn and understand each other. Sometimes, you just can't help who you fall in love with.

This is the first of Mary's books I have read, and I was not disappointed in regards to the story. This was definitely an enjoyable and emotional read! Mary Ting was able to bring out the strength and compassion of true love and friendship in this story.

This story is full of emotions and intensity between the 2 main characters. It is an emotional roller coaster throughout, you may need a
box of Kleenex. My Clarity has wonderful character's that may be friends but are also a close knit family. I couldn't stop reading this book.
I fell in love with the lyrics to the song by E.C. "To Love a Woman" When Elijah sang it to Alex to "try" to describe what LOVE Should feel
like, the sparks were flying off of my screen <3 There's many heart warming and heart wrenching events that have taken place in the
book for both Alex & Elijah, tragedies, uncertainties and passion for many things. They complete one another through the bonds they have
endured and the friendship that was built from being "roommates" Even though there is always a strong sense of each wanting the other
as more than a "friend" There were reasons neither really acted on them..until..I don't want to spoil it too much~Also, the Halloween party
and milk & cookies, things Elijah never enjoyed or participated in, his desire to make "freckles" happy, he did these things for HER :) He
is this big bad ass guy with tattoo's, the leather jacket, girls flaunting over him constantly,he smokes (had quit until Alex arrived) then the
motorcycle and drag racing totally completed his "image" the author begins to peel away the many facets of Elijah and when Alex sees
things "clearly" she sees him as so much more than what her initial thought of him was and had been for awhile. My Clarity is definitely
one of the books I will read over and over again. It's a feel good story, even though it's not always going in the direction you wished right
away, it gets there. It is a valuable lesson in life. Not to take things/people for granted. If you care about someone and they care about you,
dive in feet first and enjoy the ride! Take the path that's not certain, it may lead you to your heart! by: Lora Nowak

Oh M-A-N! So Good! So emotional!! New Adult Romance is not normally my go to genre, but I would definitely re-read this story again & again. I have to confess that I have never cried as hard as I did while reading this book. I seriously won't even watch those tear jerker movies, because they affect me so. I didn't expect it to hit me so hard, but it deals with an illness that is very close to my heart. HOWEVER this story refused to be put aside, & for whatever reason I continued reading. I am really glad too, because I really really liked it!! Totally worth the tears!
We start out saying goodbye as Alex prepares to go off to college her world is turned upside down. Little does she know what else is in store for her. New town, friends, routines, choices, rules...a whole new world. Alex is lucky to have her cousin's older friends to help her adjust to everything. Her roomie Ellie quickly becomes one of my favorite characters along with the rest of the four musketeers.
As always M. Clarke does a fabulous job of taking us on this journey. She takes the typical college life & spices it up every chance she gets adding twists & turns I never expected. Be prepared for lots of goodbyes, tears to be shed, tons of laughter, & sweet memories in the making. The Halloween party & karaoke singing for Ellie's Bday happen to be some of my favorite scenes! And...the ending of course! Perfection!!

I have to tell you grab the tissues now because you are going to need them! I connected to this story right away! My "adopted" dad passed away 6 years ago and reading about Alex losing her dad had me in tears. All those memories come flooding back. Alex is a great character and I so enjoyed meeting her and learning more about her. She goes off to college and meets some of the best people ever including her new room mate Ellie. It was great watching this story play out in my mind. Every scene was so well written and every characters personality shined through. Alex and the rest of the group become very close as they go through life as a college student they bond and become the four musketeers. Sometimes life takes down paths we can't always understand but, it usually leads you to the right place and to the right people and for Alex nothing could be more true. Friendship and love are two very important things in life and Alex discovers both in this story. She learns that sometimes the heart makes a choice for us that we didn't see coming at the time. I absolutely loved My Clarity! M.Clarke took me on a roller coaster of emotions and I loved every minute of it. I cried, I laughed, and I laughed until I cried this story was worth the box of tissues! I had so many favorite parts that I would be here all day listing them. I will tell you this if you haven't already read this book you need to! I will read this one again! Thank you M. Clarke for making my heart remember!

My Clarity is a good book,  although there were a few sections that seemed slow to me it was well worth reading on. Elijah and Alex each

5 stars is not enough to give this book! I could not put it down and read it in one day.

My Clarity will have you feeling every emotion possible and might even give you a new perspective on life,
love and friendship. I know it did that for me.

I fell in love with the characters in this phenomenal love story. You feel for Elijah and Alexandria as they both cope
with losing someone special in their lives. They come together because of her cousin Jimmy who suggests she live
with his former roommate while she attends college. She arrives and meets her new roommate and the rest of
    Jimmy's friends.

I love the the way they all formed a bond of family and friendship with Alex to protect and take care of her.
You could feel the growing love and affection that Elijah and Alex had for each other.

Elijah is definitely the epitome of the "bad boy" and wonderfully written. He is most definitely on my swoon worthy
book boyfriend list. Alexandria's character is beautifully written and makes you want to take care of her too.

Mary Ting is an exceptional writer who definitely writes from the heart. I felt that way when I first read Crossroads
and if you haven't read the books in the Crossroads Saga then shame on you! I will definitely be a fan for life and
would follow her to the moon and back.

Now for some milk and chocolate chip cookies! You'll understand why when you read it!

¿¿If our love, is tragedy,Why are you my remedy? If our love's, insanity,Why are you my clarity?¿¿
    4-4.5 "clarification" stars!!
“Life presents you with many roads, but two things remain constant; you’re born, and when it’s your time, you die. The other roads presented in between, and which one to take, is up to you.”
Guys, I’m happy to say that for my first official read by the author, M. Clarke/ Mary Ting, I actually LOVED IT!¿♥

I was lucky to be entrusted with this ARC and boy did it take my breath away! I’ve always had a soft spot for books with morals/life lessons embedded in them and this one hit that right on the dot for me.
What it taught me really is that life is short and the unknown can happen at any time, at any place, and to any person. You should always relish as well as cherish every moment and person that is important in your life for in one moment they could be taken away.
After all, Alexandria “Alex” Weis and Elijah “Ellie” Cooper know this better than anyone. Both know the reality of loss and are kindred spirits in that sense.
When Alex heads off to college and meets Elijah, it’s like both have finally regained some sort of clarity to what they want for themselves and life.
It’s actually pretty hilarious how Alex meets Elijah because she initially thinks that “Ellie,” her roommate is a girl and not a guy. When Elijah explains to her as to how he got nicknamed that I had to laugh because it sounded like a typical frat guffaw.
“One of the things they did at the frat was call us girl’s names. You get the picture?.. Ellie is a guy, not a girl.”
It was quite interesting to see Alex and Elijah rub off of each other and take and push whatever each other hand to bring. It was like how Elijah explained it:
"I'm the opposite of you. You are day and I am night. We complete each other. You are my clarity, Alex."
I had to agree that it was quite true as each was so different in their own ways and yet they were constantly teaching each other lessons.
Only… with a strong camaraderie and friendship ensuing and love in the midst, what will these two lost souls do? Will old hurts and wounds heal? What about old flames and commitment issues? And will they ever truly open themselves to love and giving life a second chance?
A lovely, lovely read!! And wait to you read the parts where Elijah sings to Alex! So romantic! ¿♥
“There were no guarantees in life. There was no happily ever after—only reality. ..For everyday was a new day, a new beginning, a new experience, a new experience, with new hopes and dreams—one that should always be lived as if it were your last.”

*An early advanced ARC was given to me by the author for an honest review. Thank you!!*

    5 Wonderful Stars!

From the moment I started this book I was caught up in Alex's story. I was heartbroken from the beginning when she loses her father. I think since I lost my father just 2 short years ago, that pain was still there, which in turn made this story more real to me. Clarke could have taken the easy way out and just started the book off with Alex leaving for college and just telling us readers what happened. Instead she started it at a very crucial time, when Alex is saying goodbye to her father after he loses his battle to cancer. In just a few pages, you hurt with Alex. You feel her pain. And you become that much more connected to her character. If Clarke wouldn't have begun with that scene, well, this story probably wouldn't have clicked with me like it did.

MY CLARITY is full of characters that readers are going to enjoy. From the moment that Alex introduces herself, the others welcome her into their 'family' with open arms. Which makes starting college a little easier for her. They are exactly what each other needs. To me, Alex completed their family and made it whole. I loved seeing that unity of people who are so close, even if they don't know much about one another. And yeah, I definitely wouldn't hate to see the other's stories being told either. Just sayin.

Alex and Elijah's story really is a captivating one. I couldn't bring myself to pull away from it. I stayed up late reading until my eyes couldn't stay open any longer, only to wake up the next morning to finish it. I loved that they fought each other so hard in the beginning but in the end, they gave in. But that is not where the story comes to a close. Oh no. Like it would be that easy. A situation arises and pretty much an ultimatum is given. This is where we see if love really is enough. Choices have to be made and those choices will affect their future greatly.

Tears will be shed, and laughter will be had. All in all, the one thing I can say is this book was definitely worth the read and staying up late for. I absolutely recommend this book to those who love New Adult/College time frame reads. 5 Wonderful Stars!
