Children's LiteratureRosa-Mendoza has turned out another serviceable, but unexceptional, book in this bilingual board book series. In this title, a group of young children show the different clothes they wear for different occasions. We learn about swimwear, pajamas, rainwear, school clothes, and party clothes. The children do not possess heaps of character and Collier's illustrations do not give them much expression beyond the canned smile of a catalog model. The book does do a good job in making the names of the clothes very clear, with arrows that are uncluttered and simply indicate the clothing article. The illustrations name articles of clothing which are not mentioned in the text, which may be confusing for younger readers who are learning the vocabulary of another language. I do not recommend using the glossary as it seems to have been composed by someone with an American accent in Spanish and a Spanish accent in English. This book is volume fifteen in the "English/Spanish Foundations" series. 2004, Me+Mi Publishing, Ages 6 mo. to 6.
